But as soon as I plug it into my laptop while turned off it will charge just fine. There’s a chance that your media transfer only option is enabled. You should be able to swipe down from the top and see what method it’s using to connect via USB. Plug it into your computer and check, and change it to USB mode only if possible....

The power light flashes amber 3 times then white 5 times. I replaced the lockswitch, its always turned on. i had working clickwheel swapped that also still the lockswitch is on i think the problem is with the logic board any fixes other than getting a new logic board? Did you stick down the grounding tab by the hold switch

It’s kept in place with a double-L-shaped bracket that in is his turn is attached to 2 inverted U-brackets on the logic board.
