Chosen Solution I just recently fixed my PS2’s internal ribbon cable connections, only to discover that now controller port 2 and memory card slot 1 aren’t working. Chosen Solution Can this be fixed by purchasing the proper component or proper board? Is the screen on or off? First, check your connections and make sure that you arent just receiving a blank input. If you have picture and no sound, it is probably a bad capacitor causing a short somewhere on the picture board. My suggestion would be to simply replace the picture board by opening up the tv and writing down the model number....

It is possible that the over heating issue is caused by a bad battery. Consider replacing it. Otherwise there are multiple complaints on forums that this is caused by a bad memory module which would make it impossible to fix....
