I tore down my phone and think it could be the battery. i plugged in my charger while it was torn down and found out that my motherboard is getting very hot, while the battery remains the same temp. could it be signs of a dead battery? giving some insight of how it started this way, one night i was charging my phone overnight and in the morning i found it unresponsive and very hot. the led indicator was off too. any insight would be appreciated.

@jinpachi this"that my motherboard is getting very hot, while the battery remains the same temp." is usually not a sign of a bad charger. It could be the battery but does not sound right either. Start off with a new battery just so that you have a know-good testing point. After that follow the trouble shooting guidelines. Just a quick FYI, I just finished working on a S6 Edge and it is not the easiest phone to work on. Use this

to check your phone and see if you can narrow down where it heats up from.

@jinpachi,Jesse, Yes it could be a faulty battery. Your first task is to find where the issue lies. Using a different charger is a good way to begin the troubleshooting. Try another compatible/official Samsung charger, try it to see the difference. If nothing changes, then you can assume that either the phone’s charging port is bad(look in the port for any bent pins and straighten very carefully with a tooth pick), the battery has malfunctioned(check to ensure connections are good first/replace battery), or the phone itself has encountered a software(factory reset)/hardware error. If all tried and unsuccessful the issue is with the charge circuit on the board. Check the guide links below trouble shooting hot phone and battery replacement. Good luck.
