you most likely have a bad connector pin inside the phone. I would need to know much more before diagnosing further. Update (04/04/2016) my bet is that you have a blown out backlight on the phone. there are 2 filters for the backlight - one for each side of the phone. the fact that you have a “half black” phone tells me that one of the filters is blown.
