It overheats and lags while playing on medium graphics, the battery is on 87% health but if it heats while off and charging, could the battery need replacement? I use a 5 watt apple charger

If the battery holds up for a short time and the current disappears quickly, there will be a confirmation and a yellow light should come on. The fault could be anywhere. If you don’t deal with electronics, find a good repair shop - it should take about 20 minutes and not cost much. However, if the technician says that he can replace the battery and / or the screen - run away from this place.
