My oculus quest 1 has been acting up and can’t charge. It is dead right now and when I plug it in it gives me a red light. I have now changed the cable 3 times and wait for an hour before plugging it back in to see if it was overheating. Please help me!
David Hoag since the charging light comes on we can assume your charger works and the cable works etc. So at this time I would replace the battery. This maybe a case of the battery no longer holding a charge which would manifest in symptoms like you describe. Update (11/23/2021) The battery is located in the metal assembly that is part of the forehead of the headset. Check the teardown on here as well as on here to at least get you there.
