My macbook pro stopped charging. whilst I had battery remaining it would still boot and worked fine, suggesting there was no battery issue. I swapped out the magsafe module and upon connecting the power the charging light came on, the mac power up “chord” sounded…….and then nothing. The power light went out and the mac is still dead. the only other work I’ve had to perform prior to this was a dead HDD a couple of moths ago, and after I’d replaced that there were no indications of any other problems prior to this.

I think you’ll need to review your MagSafe charger as its likely bad. Over time the cord connector can wear out and the cords do breakdown as well. All it takes is the middle pin to short out with the power feed pins which are right next to it or within the cord.
