So when I plug it in the power lights on the side all flash 5 times and the light on the connector does not light up. When plugged in the MacBook just refuses to power on or charge. I have already reset the SMC multiple times and that has done nothing. I am really hoping I can fix this myself and I don’t have to take it to the apple store. Edit: After looking a bit more, if I shine a flash light through the apple logo on the back I can see the desktop but only if I boot without the SMC (fans run at high speeds). When I do use the flash light I can see that there is no battery in the menu bar. The MacBook will not recognize the battery, this is the factory battery. And the display Backlight does not work.

Disconnect the mag-safe adapter. Disconnect the battery. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. reconnect the battery. When the mag-safe is reconnected you should get a spontaneous reboot. UPDATE Hook it up to an external monitor and see if it will generate a valid video signal. Now that you know it is generating a video signal, Here’s the most probable fix: Replacing the LP8550TLX BGA Power IC Chipset https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVdQ-2nj
