So, I bought this controller about a year ago and, as it was my 2nd controller, never used it so often. Then, my first controller broke, and I had to use this 2nd one since then. So, I noticed that whenever I moved the analog stick to the right, it computed as if I was moving diagonally to the bottom-right corner. Whenever I moved to the left, the movement in-game was as if I was moving diagonally to the top-left. Then I tried to fix it by opening it and seeing if there’s any problem, and it didnt seem like it had. The only thing I did when I opened the controller is that I took the analog stick out and put it back again. Then, another problem appeared: whenever I moved the analog stick upwards, to move forward in-game, it stopped moving after a while, like 5-10 seconds. What should I do? Is that a chipset problem? Please help!

I had a number of difficulties with left thumbstick registering incorrectly, and I found that the following steps helped immensely: Rotate the stick around a bunch CLICK the stick down and while holding it down, rotate again Keeping the stick clicked in, move it downward and blow air into the gap at the top Put the stick upward and blow into the bottom area Rotate the stick again, both unpressed and pressed Blow air all around the inside with the stick clicked down Release the stick and give the controller a few firm whacks Click the stick back in and blow around the edges again Reset the controller using the reset pinhole button for good measure, and then test after reconnecting to the PS4. All my problems seemed to be caused by dirt creeping in while I was sprinting in some game, holding the stick down and forward. Merely blowing some air in didn’t help, the constant agitation and blowing and repeating seemed to be the only thing to clean it out without opening the device (which is a fair degree harder than i anticipated when I attempted it)

I had some similar problems. I teared down the controller and cleaned all part really good with electrical spray ment for cleaning stuff like that. Waited for it to dry properly. It worked just like it was brand new. Try it. The spray is not expencive.

ty to Nick Hughes  man im suprised that worked thank you very much

I have a similar problem everytime I try to move straight my character moves slightly to the left. And it makes it really hard to play any games.

The old analog stick needs to be de-soldered and removed and a new analog stick needs to be soldered on. If this does not correct the issue, then the conductive film needs to be replaced. The conductive film is the thin plastic film that the ps4’s d-pad and other buttons make contact with in order to register they are being pressed. Sometimes the film malfunctions and causes the controller to act in erratic ways that don’t actually make any sense. This was similar to the way the PS3’s controller would act erratic when there was not enough contact being made between the film and the contact points on the controller.

I have got a Xbox controller brand new last month on may the 5th and my I pushy my anolouge stick down it feels like I’m going. Over a bump and I don’t kno what to do

There are potentiometers on the controller that need to either be replaced or cleaned. Without a magnifying glass, it’s better to just replace the potentiometers.
