Anyone having any tips why my iMac won’t start? When I press power on the startup check is running and the CD ROM makes noise, when it continues the computer just shutting down and tries to boot one more time. This goes forever. The screen is black the whole process. Can it be hard drive failure? I’ve opened it up, but can’t see any failure on mobo. Any tips appreciated :)
The 2011 27” iMac has a well know issue with the GPU failing. For a while Apple even offered a repair program for it. For a short period it extended this program but was very quite about it: https://www.techradar.com/news/apple-may… To see if this is your issue, hook up an external monitor and see fir it works. If it does , then the GPU is not your issue. If it doesn’t then you need to replace the GPU. I replace it with a better 2GB card as just replacing the original may result in the same issue.
