Hi, my GE profile dishwasher-about 12 years old, recently stopped working, I was able to get it to work after locking the touchpad, unlocked and pushing about 20 buttons to make it work. Then I reset it, it worked for one wash. Now I have to unplug it and plug it back in every wash or it doesn’t turn on. I need to fix this fast. Any help is greatly appreciated-thank you.
Your main control board is failing. Please give us your model number.
I had a similar problem with Maytag Jetclean. In my case, my 20 year old DW wouldn’t turn on unless I forced the door to align and eventually wouldn’t turn on for more than a second even then. I leveled the feet which was important, but years of wear already wore the latch to not connect easily. I accessed the latch by unscrewing the panel apart (after tripping the circuit breaker off). Mindful of water spray and the door ajar, I next tested whether I could manually start the DW by pressing down on the latch. Latch worked that way. But the gaps had become too great for the DW to do this on its own. I could have replaced the whole switch mechanism for $50, but for now the electronics still work. When the latch is pressed dead center, it clicks two sensor buttons simultaneously- this ensures the door is square in order for the DW to run. Neither side was off a lot, but it just seamed like years of wear had loosened the mechanism so much that the door itself was not able to press the latch enough to keep both- or maybe either- sensor pressed. I broke the prongs off of a flat plastic bread bag tie. I inserted them into the mechanism, thereby making it slightly easier to depress both sensors when pressing on the main latch button. Now my DW is able to routinely make the connection happen in the latch- and it runs. Hope this helps someone.
