Hi, as mentioned i have a problem with my aux. Recently i have purchased a used car stereo and it had a aux cable coming from the housing. I’ve connected it to the car and when I plugged in my phone nothing happened. I tried a bunch of things but I couldn’t play music. Finally I got out my multimeter and found out that there were 12V on the aux jack. If i plug in the headphones they get recognised but no sound is coming from them. Now I would like to ask if someone understands the circuitry on this does it have some sort of a overvoltage protection or have I killed something on the logic board?

Don’t know for sure it could be a lot of things but try turning off the phone and letting it sit for a couple of hours, then try it with some earbuds that you trust and see if they work, if they don’t you have most likely blown the DAC (digital analog converter) from something, also 12V is really high… P.S. If it was working before you tried it on the car I would not use the AUX on that car anymore…
