I had installed Zoom on Thursday and by Friday my 5s was hanging. I should have uninstalled Zoom, but instead I ran a hard reset, which my phone hasn’t recovered from. I’ve read that a never ending hard reset could be a hardware issue, so I installed the new battery to see if that would help, but it hasn’t. Is there a way to interrupt the hard reset to get in “safe mode” and uninstall Zoom? … and no backup is avail.

Try doing an software update via iTunes. If it’s still stuck on the apple boot loop you will need to restore the phone. You can use this guide as a reference on how to get into recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/en-au/ht204306
