Yesterday I have bought a MiniDP-to-HDMI adapter for my MBP and decided to try it on my FullHD TV. I connected a mouse and a keyboard and closed the lid of the laptop so the screen was displayed only on the TV. After working for an hour, I decided to restart the laptop (with closed lid). After that, the laptop no longer boots. At the moment, when I press the power button, it chimes and shows a blank gray screen. The hard drive and fan are spinning, CPU getting warm. I can’t reset SMC, PRAM, enter safe mode or anything else, as the keyboard is not responding. I determined this when I tried to press Caps Lock - indicator doesn’t work. The external keyboard doesn’t work either. Also I tried to disconnect battery, HDD and RAM, but it didn’t help. Thanks for any help and advice! P.S. I apologize for any grammatical errors, English is not my first language.
Sadly I suspect the adapter was defective and damaged your system. The logic board will need repairs. Lets check one more thing. using a flashlight shining in through the lid logo are you able to see anything on your desktop?
