My 42-inch Panasonic tv was not used for approximately 2 months. Now if I power it on, the following happens:

  1. It goes to home screen.
  2. If i click any icons on home screen, be it Media player or YouTube, none launches. The screen blanks out after few seconds, and navigates back to the home screen.
  3. None of the remote buttons work except the power button (same issue when i use the android tv app). Same with the buttons on the TV unit as well.. unable to switch the inputs too, on the tv and remote.
  4. Most importantly, if i invoke Main menu on the tv or remote, it doesn’t show the menu at all!
  5. I tried a reset using tv volume- and remote Menu buttons, still above issues persists. Not sure whats to be done.. Please help!

Hi @edison91 , What is the full model number of the TV? If it is a TH-42AS670D, a TH-50AS670D or a TH-55AS670D then try updating the firmware and check if that resolves the problem. There are some caveats with trying this. If the TV is not one of the models listed above then don’t try it as installing the wrong firmware can brick the TV which can then only be repaired by the manufacturer. If the firmware already installed in the TV is the same version or even a later version, then the update will not be installed. I realize that you cannot check what firmware version is already installed so you may have to try it and see what happens.

Have you tried to connect the faulty television with another television to see if you are capable of getting the best menu options needed I’m learning about this subject atm… I am a physicist and am just self educating myself experimenting & I found a few ways around it the best was to mirror vice versa to my mobile phone, or have you tried plugging it into a laptop etc, they all seem to have worked but the most shocking one that worked was linking it from the panasonic television’s AV scart & plugged it into a Toshiba lcd tv, oh another that could help is turning on the speech feedback from the tv basically giving you the instructions, I am just making an app that will help the blind in situations like this
