Hi all, I have a 2015 Macbook 12’’ - just out of warranty (3 yrs). I was browsing the Internet and all of a sudden everything froze (screen / mouse / keyboard). I held the power button down, it turned off; Since then, I have been unable to turn it back on. Have tried SMC reset, PRAM reset, holding the power button in for 20 seconds (and various combinations of without/with power etc)…Nada. Keyboard backlight won’t come on either. The weird thing is that if I leave it plugged in, after about a minute, I can feel the underside of the logic board getting warm. If I let it charge then unplug it, the underside will remain hot for a few hours, just as if the system is ‘stuck’ doing something and draining the battery down. Have opened it to try and disconnect the battery completely, in the hope that it is just stuck in some deep sleep mode and cutting all power would reset it…Nope. I can see the white LED on if I have charged it up, so parts of it seem to be working… Anyone have any ideas? Many thanks! Update (02/25/2018) This is what I see with the battery disconnected and the charger plugged in (you can see the white LED is on). The system will not start nevertheless…
The CPU? (big rectangle on the right) gets hot almost immediately… Unfortunately it does look like an expensive repair :-( Any ideas welcome! Thanks
The White LED on the front is to let you know your system is sleeping. Lets try this open your system again and disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected. Resting it on its side plug in your MagSafe charger did the system spontaneously start up? Let us know what happens
