Hi, here’s what I tried so far:

  • a different charger
  • removing the battery
  • cleaning the ports with alcohol Sometimes when I connect the charger, the plug LED turns green for a second and then goes off. When I tried to power it on without the battery, it sounded like the fan started to rotate for a second and then stopped. Do you think the MagSafe board could be damaged? Thanks in advance. EDIT: I somehow managed to get the plug LED turn green when I connect the charger. However, it won’t turn orange. The MacBook still won’t boot. When I press the power button, the LED goes out for a second or so and then turns green again.

If you still have some life in the system lets install this gem of an app: CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the main window with the MAgSafe charger connected and post it here for us to see. If your system is not able to boot up as the battery is fully discharged then you’ll need a fresh battery. Its possible given the age of your system the battery needs replacing any ways.

The problem is with your logic board, it can be the problem with Power Management IC. Try with a different charger at first.
