I recently spilt coffee on my MacBook trackpad, quickly tried to wipe it off but some of it seemed to have seeped through. Everything works properly, I haven’t had any issue with the MacBook except for the click. The trackpad doesn’t seem to click anymore. I took it to apple and they said I have to replace the whole logic board and the trackpad, and that it would cost me about $1299 which doesn’t make sense. After a while the trackpad click started to work again, but only slightly, I can feel faint clicks every time I press down on it. Should I get a replacement trackpad or should I just try and clean it up once and see if that helps, there are coffee stains inside the MacBook. If I can clean it, How would I do it? Are there kits from IFIXIT to handle such cases?

Remove the track pad and clean it with alcohol and a brush, and if it does not fix the problem, replace it. MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2016-2019) Trackpad
