My 2015 Macbook Pro screen went black last week. I connected it to an external monitor and found out the laptop is still completely functional, just with a black screen. I wiped my hard drive and installed MacOS fresh. However the screen still has issues so I’m thinking it must be hardware. Sometimes when I turn it on the screen does work and has no visible issues. No dots/lines/weird colors/etc. But other times when I turn on the laptop the screen is completely black. I’m always able to use it with HDMI to an external monitor but I would like to have the laptop screen functional as well. There is no physical damage to my device, I keep it stored in a protective case and have never spilled on it or dropped it. Any help is appreciated, thanks Update (03/21/2022) Had to wait a while for the screwdriver to open the case. I opened it up and took a picture of the area. There was a small scrap of paper stuck to the connector and some dust. After taking this picture, doing some light cleaning, and reattaching the connector it seems to be working perfectly. Unless you see anything else wrong I think I can call it fixed. Here is a picture

The lack of a glow tells me the Backlight is not working and as you also don’t see an image using a flashlight that tells me the displays LCD panel is not working. At this point you’ll need to inspect the logic board display connector. Hopefully something stands out.
