Hello – My macbook pro screen has been cracked for a long time. Today I finally replaced it, and to my dismay it booted to black. The fans and startup sounds all seemed fine.
- I replaced the old screen; still black.
- I tried an external display through HDMI - works fine.
- I ran diagnostics. It didn’t help. Just said there might be a display problem - to take it to Apple for diagnostics.
- The camera on the display works. If I access it through the HDMI, it turns on okay.
- I tried to read the error message that was on the screen when I could finally access it through HDMI. I couldn’t understand it. It starts with: " Panic Report panic(cpu 6 caller 0xffffff80102065ea): " and on and on… I want to diagnose the problem even if I have to take a professional in to fix it. I prefer not to be ignorant of the device I so depend on. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT – What are the most likely causes for this problem?
Ouch! When something burns its never a good sign ;-{ Can you explain why you needed to replace the screen and what was the steps you took to find the replacement part.
