I purchased an iFixit replacement battery for my 13” MacBook Pro Early 2011. Since I installed it, the replacement battery refuses to charge. I’ve done all the troubleshooting steps (reset NVRAM, reset SMC, etc.) — the battery simply will not charge (MagSafe adapter seems to be operating fine). I’ve looked in this forum, but I can’t find an answer at this stage. Any suggestions?

Pop off the bottom cover and make a detailed inspection of the logic board comparing it to the IFIXIT one here:

If you see any staining or corrosion take a nice tight shot of the area and post it here for us to see.

I’m getting convinced that it’s the iFixit battery. After replacing the MagSafe port connector (twice!), putting in a new battery from iFixit, and then giving up the ghost, I left the 2011 MacBook Pro sitting on my desk for over a year. The battery drained completely, and for the !&&* of it, I plugged the charger in. It started charging when, before, no lights showed up on the charger or on the side of the MacBook after pressing the little round button. I was able to get stuff off the hard drive, but shortly thereafter noticed that if I removed the plug (even when battery showed 99% charged) the system shut down. I read some posts about iFixit battery problems with this system, so removed that battery and put the old one (not original Apple, but another replacement one, back in. It is now charging and lights are showing green flashing on side of MacBook when little button is pushed. We’ll see what happens. Waiting for fuller charge before turning on and checking whether same issues appear or not. Have a feeling I had two bad things going on at same time….magsafe port and battery. Will return with results. Update (05/13/2021) Well whaddaya know. Charged up the old battery (charged to 85% in 2 hours) and reset the smc. It’s now at 96%, and I can remove the charger without it shutting down. All seems well EXCEPT that the battery indicator reads “Service battery” The battery was fairly new, (cycle count 20) when I replaced it with ani fixit one. I’ll see what happens, but so far, so good. Does seem the slow charge, shut down on disconnecting power cord, were related to iFixit battery. Update (05/19/2021) Trying coconut screenshot upload.
