I bought 13" MacBook pro A1278 unibody. Used AS-IS for 80$ (negotiated from 140$) off of a classifieds app. The person said it doesn’t power on and they don’t know why. They said “doesn’t turn on maybe water damage” is what they put in the ad literally. So I took a gamble and bought it with hopes that it could or can be fixed. I inspected the laptop and there’s no signs of water damage as in: the keys aren’t sticky, there aren’t any liquid stains, screen looks like in very good condition light scratches no cracks or etc. One thing I did notice was the “magsafe charging port” looked a little dark or “burnt” on the hinges and prongs of the port. As I seen and read that could be a cause of it not turning due to it not receiving power properly and not charging I assume? The person didn’t give me the charger with it so I can’t really plug it up to see if it’s the charging port that’s causing it not to power on. Since its not powering on in had thoughts in thinking maybe the battery went bad and needs replacement? Also I noticed on the bottom that 2 of the screws are missing so the previous owner probably took off the back and maybe tried to see what’s wrong? I don’t know. The laptop is in overall really good condition with light scratches on the screen and aluminum housing. And with only one mini dent on the corner. I just want to know what I should do if anyone has had any similar problems with their macbook pro not turning on and what I should do? I was thinking maybe buying OEM new magsafe charging port and new OEM apple macbook battery for the laptop and having a very reputable laptop repair shop fix it? Maybe seeing if that would maybe fix the problem? I really don’t know what to do and don’t want to waste any money or time unless I know there’s a good possibility of the laptop having a chance of being repaired which I’m pretty sure it can but I just want to be sure and know what to exactly buy and do. If any of you tech guys/ Tech Junkies/ Experts could lead me in the right direction of what I should do with MacBook pro? It would be highly appreciated..

I released then pushed the power button - it powered on. I shut it down - unplugged the power connector. Then plugged the battery back into the logic board.
