So my 2012 macbook pro just recently started kicking the fans on high during start up. Right as the progress bar is loading the fans kick on and then everything bogs down really bad. Im able to get logged in and I can open and close applications, but its very slow and lags very bad with the spinning beach ball coming in intermittently. About 15-20 minutes later the fans die down and everything runs as it should. Im currently typing on the unit and the internal temp says 109 farenheit and fans are at 2000 rpm. Not sure if its worth dumping money into this thing or just scrapping it. Any ideas where to start? Was thinking maybe a new battery to begin with and the logic board being a last resort…

Darn it, The GPU Failed! You will need to replace the logic board. Part: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pr...Guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement
