Chosen Solution
I have a mid 2014 15” MacBook Pro with retina display. I do not have any issue with spilling of anything on the system and all of a sudden in Dec 2020 the screen suddenly faded to white. It seemed like a full layer over the screen. I have then updated to the latest software, tried all boot-ups options, and taken to the nearest service center. They said since it’s an old model it might be wearing out and they don’t offer any practical solution. Sometime later, I used the computer for a whole day, and eventually by midnight the screen became normal, with no sight of any fades or flickers or vignettes. But, again after shutting down or putting it to sleep this cycle of fade restarts and gradually decreases with the time of usage (it needs a minimum of 8hrs to become completely normal). During the white fade phase, when I take a screenshot of the screen, it doesn’t show the fade or any sign of it. Lately from reading from the forum, I have tried the mac fan control app, which helps with the heating of the computer but not the vignette fading fully. I have also tried the right and left top corner push-pull, it didn’t help. Also, my speakers gave up in between and are unusable. I live in South India and it’s really humid. I try to use the AC whenever I have edit work and the mac heats up. Kindly offer any help. Thank you!
it sounds like your internal display has failed. within it is a small logic board we can a T-CON, it controls the creation of the image onto the LCD panel and is part of it. If the external display shows a clean image then you know your internal needs replacing.
