Hello, I have a 30 Gb iPod Video 5th Gen. I get a low amount of static through the headphones when the unit is on. I am using relatively high quality headphones (RBH EP3). I have tried other headphones and the result is the same. I was upgrading the memory of my wife’s iPod to 780 Gb using the iFlash Quad SD adapter. The unit is in outstanding shape as she didn’t use it much. I also replaced the battery as it was weak (but pretty good for 14 year old device). While testing using some classical music, with lots rests (silence between notes) I noticed the static and found it irritating. Is there a way to fix this? Is this part of some of these iPods? I had another 30 Gb iPod 5th gen (stolen long ago) and I don’t remember this issue. I used decent quality headphones on those as well. I have reconnected the headphone ribbon to the logic board and reconnected both the original HDD (for tests) and the iFlash adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I’m not an expert but try putting some rubbing alcohol on a q tip and cleaning the jack. Thats the only thing I can think of but others may have better advice.
