This laptop once lost video completely. Took it to apple, and they said oh it’s the display. $600 to fix it. I then asked, well can you hook up an external display to show me it’s just the display? The genius said oh yeah, we should. Well it didn’t work. Apple wanted $700 to refurb it and make it work again. I had someone repair it and it worked great for a year. But now, if I slightly bump the laptop, like tap the lid, or place it down other than like a feather, the video cuts out, and it freezes. I only know about the freezing because I was on a Zoom call, and it cut out and the audio didn’t keep going, it just made a low continuous noise (last noise the speaker made) until I shut it off. Someone in a facebook group thinks it’s a lose video/solder or something.

Sounds like either a CPU or GPU issue. I would have it checked out by Louis Rossman of Rossman Repair Group in NYC. He’s a specialist when it comes to macbook repair and he has a youtube channel you can check out.
