Hi all. I bought a brand new mbp 15 in November 2018. Since setting it up with my iCloud account, the devices takes 30 seconds to get to the desktop from the time I press enter after password entry. The progress bar reaches about 60%, slowly makes its way to about 75% (going visually here give me some slack) then staggers towards the end before the desktop is revealed. I’ve checked my login items, disabled/removed everything apart from speech synth server, reset smc and nvram. Not sure what else to try. Any advice? Out of the box, it was running Mojave - same problem. Upgraded to Catalina last week - same problem.

A cold boot will take 30 seconds to the finder (without a user login) A system who’s user account was logged out and not in sleep mode will take around 10 seconds after logging in the user account to the finder. Your system will take more time if it has a hard time gaining access the internet. If you disable WiFi it should be faster. You may want to alter your WiFi settings listing the local WiFi network you want to use as the first listed and then alter the others so they are just below it in the order you are likely to use them. Delete any that you don’t need and set the check on ‘Automatic join this network’ and un-check ‘Ask to join new networks’
