I’ve repasted my Lenovo Legion Y530, and also upgraded the RAM. I was stupid and forgot to disconnect the battery before the process. However the laptop worked fine for an hour after reassembly, but then the screen suddenly went dark. (the connected external monitor is dark as well) The device still starts up (windows welcome sound), the fans are spinning, keyboard lights are on, but the screen remains black I’ve tried battery removal and discharging, and also tried to enter the BIOS but all i got was 12 short beeps followed by 1 separate beep. I’ve checked the Lenovo Beep Codes, but couldn’t find an exact match for this pattern. Did I just kill my laptop? Hi @folt, My first thought (as it worked for an hour) is that something wasn’t quite put back where it needed to be and has wiggled loose. Have you tried opening it back up and double checking that you everything unplugged in your repair was re-connected firmly and clamped back into place?
Hi @folt, To add to Amber’s answer - Have you tried Fn+F6 to increase display brightness or Fn+F7 to toggle between the laptop display and an external display or with the computer off press the Novo button (little hole near side USB 3.1 port) using a paper clip (something without sharp tip) to start the BIOS setup utility? Moving the lid would certainly loosen it.
Usually, unless you do a display service the backlight fuse survives. Now yes, never do that again but I wouldn’t be surprised if the fuse is fine. I’ve made this mistake with RAM and SSDs before, and I was fine. Your best bet is to disconnect both the primary and CMOS batteries for 1-2 minutes, hold the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect it to reset the BIOS settings back to default and see if that helps.
