I have a Lenovo g50-80, the other day the charging port got destroyed, i ordered a new one and replaced it, just to be sure i bought a new charger. But now the laptop is incapable of booting up without battery. The battery charges and even in windows it says its charging but when the laptop is on it will slowly (not doing anything on the pc) discharge until it shuts off. I have searched and searched and some reading indicate it might be the Lenovo LT865e chip that can get shorted by destroyed charge port. But the errors i read about this chip normally doesn’t let the laptop turn on at all nor charge. I’m at a lost right now and would like to know if anyone can help me solve this.

off the top of my head i know lenovo had an issue with 3rd party batteries in the past if they are older models. Try a bios update. See if the battery is reconized in any diagnostic software you have or through windows battery check. Also try a fresh reload of the OS. Try resetting the ram. i know lenovo had a 3rd party battery whitelist issue. I know this isnt your model but this might apply to you in some way ill set a link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWZlktXF

paul, so reding what youve posted and what readings in the pics is shown, im leading towards a bad battery. heres why. you have mains, you have voltage going to battery terminal for charging so logic is there for the ic to start up. the battery is not charging but in windows it is showing its charging. i think the battery is gone. as far as the start without battery issue….some older laptops must have the battery in, even if dead to complete a circuit. i am unsure as if this is the case here without a schematic, but i think it is coincidental and not the main issue. i believe replacing the battery is what is needed here.
