hi, i have a sony kdl55w805a which led blink alternates between amber and green when i switch it on. Detaching the flat cable (LVDS) results in led blinking 5 times. i have ruled out the LVDS cable after test for continuity at both ends with one end connected to the T-con and video board at a time. Please anything i can try?

@niijohnnie start by trying a complete reset.

  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.)
  5. Turn on the TV. Most common error for the 5 blink code is either the power supply board or the T-con board itself. You have of course checked the fuse on the T-con board and the power supply board for continuity. Post some good pictures of your boards with your question so we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. Here is my answer to a similar issue with a Sony TV. See if any of this makes a difference. the 5 blink error code can have quite a few different causes. Ranging from the T-con board to the panel and few things in between. If you have the original TV remote than try to see if this will work on your set:
  6. In standby mode, press the following buttons on the Sony remote: DISPLAY….5….VOL(-)….TV POWER
  7. On the left side are the blink codes. On the right hand side is the error count.
  8. Under 005, you’ll see three listings… TCON, HFR, and P-ID (panel).
  9. Let us know what errors your set shows. If that does not work on your set, then you will have to remove the back of your TV and check the boards. Try to rule out/in the T-con board as faulty. Disconnect the LVDS cable to the T-CON board, the cable between the Main board and the T-CON board, and see if the error code will change. Let us know what the result is.
