Friend brought an early 13” 2015 Macbook Air to me. Dark screen but the image is there if I shine a flashlight to it. I have in my parts bin LCD for late 2010. Will this work as a replacement for the newer model? I’d like to try it before declaring it to be a ligicboard issue.

So why do you think replacing the screen will make a difference? If you’re sure you see an image using the flashlight then you know the screen and the LVDS cable its self is less likely to be the issue. So what could be the issue then? You’ll need to inspect the logic board LVDS connector to see if the connections are good (often times corroded). Then, you’ll need to test the fuse link to see if its still good as well as the backlight logic.

to answer your main question, no.. unfortunately the 2010 mbp lcd will not work in a 2015 mbp.. the technology is different..
