Chosen Solution

My laptop screen goes black for half a second when the screen is tilted downwards. When i put pressure on the right hinge it does not occur. I would have suspected the hinge was pressuring the display cable but according to the service guide the display cable is on the left hinge. What could be the problem and solution?

Hi, You may have to open the laptop and check what may be loose or moving in the area near the right hinge. You may be holding something down and preventing it from moving perhaps when you move the screen. The power button board is in the area near the hinge but it could be any number of things. With the laptop open and turned on, use a plastic tool (handle end of screwwdriver?) to hold anything down while you gently move the screen. That way no metal is involved or your fingers which can conduct electricity to cause any problems on the systemboard.

There are different reasons can cause the problem, a bad/out-of-date display driver, failing RAM, or failing GPU on the mainboard. First off, download the latest driver from either the notebook manufactures site or better yet the chipset maker then uninstall the current display driver, restart, install the new. And see if it keeps happening. In case of any unexpected errors may happen, you’d better back up your computer before doing any change.
